Sweet Potato Fries Recipe

Yummy yummy yammy time. Okay sorry, I just had to.

So this sweet potato fries recipe, heyo! This kid will come in handy when you need to make a side for a vegetarian cook, bean burgers out or as some great finger-food for a party. Or just...you know when you're home alone and you make yourself some sweet potato fries and then eat them all. It's good for that too.

These puppies are a healthy alternative to their fat-a** cousins. Not only do sweet potatoes have more nutrient value than regular white spuds, but you'll be baking them instead of frying. So please (please!), let your deep fryer continue to collect dust in the back of your cabinet.

Sweet potatoes have oodles of vitamin A, bioavailable beta-carotene (similar to carrots) and contrary to other starchy root vegetables which can spike blood sugar levels, sweet potatoes actually help regulate them. They are also available year round in most places and supa cheap to buy.

So wallet friendly, check. Heart & body friendly, check. Mouth friendly, double check.

Let's get started.

Sweet Potato Fries Recipe

Ingredients

  • 2 large sweet potatoes (This makes a lot. Two is plenty for four people.)
  • ½ tablespoon of smoked paprika
  • ½ tablespoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of pepper
  • 1 teaspoon of hot sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil, or less as long as they are coated

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°.
  2. Scrub the outside of your potatoes and dry thoroughly. Cut sweet potatoes (see below)
  3. In large mixing bowl, coat with olive oil then toss with the spices.
  4. Arrange on baking sheet making sure the fries do not touch one another. (If they do they will turn out soggy.) Bake for 15 minutes, take out and flip over then put them back in for 10 minutes.
